Regular maintenance and a great
vehicle - they are the reasons Colin Muddle says
his LandCruiser has just clicked over one million
kilometres on the original engine.
Colin bought his LandCruiser 80 Series wagon
in 2004 with 151,000km on the clock, converting
it to gas 100,000km later in 2006.
It has hardly stopped since: he has racked up
the miles, plying the Newell Highway to collect
and deliver new caravans.
He leaves his Brisbane home unloaded and returns
from Melbourne with a new caravan hitched to his
80 Series.
"It's running smoothly - it just purrs along,"
Colin says.

"I've never had to do a lot of work on the
LandCruiser - the only work has been superficial
stuff.
"The gearbox, diff and transfer case - I've
never had a fault. I change the oil and filter
every 10,000km and rotate the tyres every 20,000km."
The proud owner recently interrupted his driving
just long enough to take photos at 999,999km,
and when the clock kicked over to show six zeros.
Colin says the LandCruiser is part of his family
- originally bought because his Rottweiler Zena
appreciated the sliding windows. Even his wife
of 44 years, Ann, is a fan.
"She loves it just as much as I do, even
though it means I'm away a lot," he says.
"I hope to keep this vehicle and replace
the engine at some stage."
