New Grille Gives SsangYong Sports Ute A More Purposeful Outlook

Ssangyong has made some mid model changes to its hardworking and versatile dual cab utility with a new grille to give the Actyon Sports Ute more contemporary front end styling.

The Sports Ute now has a softer and more modern look but is still packed with equipment and arguably the best value for money diesel light commercial package on the Australian market.

According to Ssangyong Motors Australia General Manager Jeff Barber, the Actyon Sports Ute is head and shoulders above its opposition in the dual cab ute sector when it comes to both specification and dynamics.

"The Sports ute is a very complete package with no compromise in terms of ride, handling, performance, economy, or its ability as a work horse," said Jeff Barber.

"With the restyled grille we have listened to our customers comments about styling and given the Sports Ute a new and more attractive look," he added.

"Its level of ride and handling is car-like, and with standard features including four wheel coil spring suspension as well as the flexibility and economy of the two-litre common rail turbo diesel, this ute is unmatched, particularly when its value for money pricing is taken into account," he said.

The Sports Ute was the first vehicle in the world to be fitted with the latest generation Australian designed and built DSI six speed automatic transmission (standard on SPR, optional on Tradie and Sports) delivering smooth shifts, strong economy and the flexibility of six speeds.

Like all 2010 model Ssangyong’s the Sports Ute is exclusively 100 percent diesel powered with the XDi two-litre turbocharged engine generating maximum power of 104kW at 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 310Nm/1,800rpm making it ideal as a tough workhorse or a smooth and quiet everyday drive.

Pricing continues to be extremely competitive with the Sports Ute Tradie 4x2 starting from $24,990 for the five speed manual and $27,990 for the six speed auto. The 4x4 Tradie is priced from $27,990 for the manual and $30,990 for the six speed auto.

Tradie comes standard with driver and passenger SRS airbags, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors and remote central locking. Further standard inclusions are: steering wheel mounted controls, engine immobiliser and alarm, remote keyless entry system and a protective tub liner.

The standard 4x2 Sports Ute manual starts from $28,990 and $31,990 for the six-speed automatic while in 4x4 configuration the manual is priced from $31,990 and the six speed auto from $34,990.

Standard equipment on the mid-range Sports includes all of the Tradies features plus ABS and EBD, locking rear differential (4x2) 16-inch alloy wheels, leather steering wheel and gear knob and cruise control (auto only).
Topping the Sports Ute range is the SPR version, offering maximum equipment levels at the affordable price of $39,990 including 4x4 and six-speed automatic as standard along with a swag of other standard features.

Along with the standard features from Tradie and Sports the SPR is equipped with full leather trim, heated front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic lights, rear view mirrors and wipers, climate control air conditioning and reverse sensors.

"The Actyon Sports dual cab proves you can have luxury appointments, diesel economy and performance in a very competitively priced package," said Mr Barber.

The six-speed automatic transmission was developed and manufactured here in Australia by Drivetrain Systems International at its Albury facility and boasts sport or winter modes, altering the electronically controlled shift points to maximize power or minimize fuel consumption. Winter mode starts the vehicle in second gear to reduce wheel spin in adverse weather or road conditions.

With extensive noise and vibration dampening of the engine and powertrain, the Sports Dual Cab runs much more quietly than other Utes while its coil rear springs are unique amongst dual cab utes delivering a quieter and smoother ride without compromising load capacity.

The common rail diesel engine is highly efficient complying to Euro IV standards for low emissions and maximum power with a flat torque curve over the widest possible rpm range for better acceleration both when starting and passing.

All new Ssangyong vehicles sold in Australia come with the peace-of-mind afforded by a 3 year/100,000 kilometre factory warranty with Ssangyong Assist 24/7 roadside assistance.
